Resultant Temperature

Resultant , or globe temperature

The Resultant Temperature, also called the Globe Temperature, can be used to give a more representative measure of temperature comfort than air temperature alone.

Globe temperature can be expressed as

tg = 0.5 tmr + 0.5 ta      (1)

where

tg = globe (resultant) temperature (oC, oF)

tmr = mean radiation temperature (oC, oF)

ta = air temperature (oC, oF)

Globe temperature can be measured with acceptable results in centre of a black globe with diameter 25 to 150 mm.
