Amount of a solute that can be dissolved in a solvent

Solubility is a measure of the maximum amount of a solute that can be dissolved in 0.1 kg of a solvent at a given temperature.

Examples

If 56 gram salt is dissolved in 0.8 kg water -  56/8 = 7 gram  is dissolved in 0.1 kg water. The percentage solubility can be calculated as

7 (g/0.1kg)* 10 (0.1kg/kg)/1000 (g/kg) * 100% = 7%.
