Calculating heating air with steam

Steam is often used to heat air. The steam condensing rate for air equipment can be calculated as

ms = q dt cp / he (1)

where

ms = rate of condensation, steam consumption (kg/s)

q = volumetric air flow rate (m3/s)

dt = temperature difference in air flow (oC)

cp = specific enthalpy of air (kJ/m3 oC)

he = specific enthalpy of evaporating steam (kJ/kg)
